Catherine Wolter Wilderness Area - This wilderness area consists of 2,189 acres of northern forest and 15 lakes and ponds. The lakes and surrounding forests provide habitat for many native plants and wildlife, including loons, osprey, otters, fishers, bear and timber wolves. The preserve is open to the public from sunrise to sunset for hiking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, bird watching, and other low impact recreational activities. Location: From Presque Isle, continue south/east on County B about 3 miles to the intersection with East Bay Road. Turn north on East Bay Road and continue about ½ mile to a parking area next to the locked gate. |
