Presque Isle Area Birding Trails

Catherine Wolter Wilderness Area-This wilderness area consists of 2,189 acres of northern forest and 15 lakes and ponds. The lakes and surrounding forests provide habitat for many native plants and wildlife, including loons, osprey, otters, fishers, bear and timber wolves. The preserve is open to the public from sunrise to sunset for hiking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, birdwatching, and other low impact recreational activities. Signature species: Black-throated GreenWarblers; Black-throated Blue Warblers; American Restarts; Golden-winged Warblers; Magnolia Warblers; Mourning Warblers; Common Loons, Osprey.

Location: From Boulder Junction travel north on County M about 5 miles to the intersection of County B. Turn northwest (left) on County B and travel about 7 miles, turn northeast (right) on East Bay Road. Go 1/2 mile and park in front of the locked gate.
